Out of curiosity, how important is it that the two wires to it aren't switched? I snapped a picture of it before pulling off the leads, but last time I pulled them off I didn't and have always wondered if I had it right, or if it even mattered. I wired it this way last time because the way the wires hung out of the harness seemed like they had been in that position since assembly I checked the wiring diagram, and although it specifies which wire is which, there was no indication which terminal is which.

Coils are generally a sealed, water-tight component. As such, they are generally not a repairable item. Routine checks on a coil are not necessary. They should be tested as part of a troubleshooting procedure whenever the motorcycle becomes difficult to start or runs rough.
Testing them tends to be relatively simple and involves the use of an ohmmeter. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil by hand.
Disconnect the two smaller primary wires from the coil using an open-ended wrench. Measure the resistance between the coil connections for the spark plugs with an ohmmeter.
The resistance should be 0. A resistance outside of this range indicates a broken coil. Measure the resistance between the two smaller primary wire connections on the coil with an ohmmeter. The resistance should be 6, to 12, ohms.
Again, a resistance outside of this range indicates a broken coil. Also make sure you have the petcock switched to the reserve position if the gas is low. There are three or four things that need to be done before you can start a Kawasaki Ninja The ignition has to be turned on The kill switch on the right grip has to be in the correct position The clutch lever has to be squeezed if you are not in neutral but you should really be in neutral. Even if you are in neutral, squeezing the clutch lever doesn't hurt. The starter button must be pressed If the bike doesn't turn over when you've done all the required operations, there's an electrical problem, most likely with the battery or one of the switches.
Make sure the battery is charged. If it is, make sure no fuses have blown. If they haven't, check to see if you are getting voltage to the starter motor terminals. If you are, the starter motor is likely defective. You should also check the kill switch and starter switches and their connections.
If the bike turns over but won't start you have to check for a spark and make sure gas is getting to the engine. Make sure there is gas in the tank first! If there is you may need to check the petcock. The Ninja uses a gravity fuel feed by locating the fuel tank higher than the carburetor.
The fuel through a vacuum operated valve The petcock. The valve has two hoses connected to it. One is connected to the carburetor and is for the gas coming out and one goes to the intake manifold which provides a vacuum.
If you disconnect the hose from the carburetor, fuel should run out when you crank the engine or you put a vacuum on the vacuum port be careful to catch the gas if you do this and don't do it with a hot engine.
If you don't see gas the petcock may be faulty.I'm replacing my keyed ignition with a toggle switch that will go under my passenger seat. The only problem is I dont know what type of switch I need dual, triple poleand which wires go to which lead on the switch. I was just making sure I because most of the guys over on custom fighters are just using basic 30amp toggles. It looks like 4 pole switches are kind of hard to find so I'll go with 2, dual poles. Can either of you confirm that these are the type I want to use. Should work.
You can use a meter to determine which posts are active to each other when the switch is toggled. I can't for the life of me find any stores that carry any dpst automotive switches the closest I have found is a household switch linked hereWould this one work?
What is the amp rating should the switch should have? I found some 20amp spst toggles at walmart, thought I could just run four of them, would that be a problem?

I've decided to go with 4 spst toggle switches because I haven't found any stores that carry dpst or 4pst switches yet. Would 20amp switches be good enough or do I need to match the amperage of the main fuse 30a? I forgot to mention. Still the original wiring harness but I have thought if making a simplified one and get rid of all extra stuff. Not sure but you might be able to get away with just connecting the tail 1 to the tail 2, but I am not sure why they need to be separated when the switch is in the off position.
